Woodland Hideaway

Woodland hideaway front door

Design

The goal of this home was a simple minimalist aesthetic with as many natural materials as possible. One of the highlights is an unfinished, unstained board and batten white pine siding. The design sought to balance the natural weathering of the pine, with the black window frames and dark gray fascia, soffit and metal roof.

Construction

Again a minimalist efficiency was at the heart of this build. Large accordion glass doors, sought to maximize the openings and the natural light. Tall post and beam steel supports a soaring shed roof. Large casement windows sought to maximize ventilation and connection to the forest setting. Slab on grade concrete floors ground the home in the most direct way possible. Efficiency of the build was also a major focus and every effort was made to create the most efficient layout possible and maximize the use of every square foot.
